NAGGALABI

 Naggalabi is a coronation center located in Buddo which is sometimes spelled as Budo, it’s a hill in Wakiso District, and central Uganda .Buddo is the right spelling in Luganda native language of the local area.

Buddo is located in Busiro county off the Kampala-Masaka highway which is approximately 14 kilometers by road, southwest of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city .Naggalabi Buddo is where all the Kabakas(Kings) of Buganda ceremonies take place on Buddo Hill because it was were Kintu the first Kabaka(King) of Buganda killed his brother Bemba and declared himself King  during the 13th century.

The Coronation of the current Kabaka Ronald Kimmera  Mutebi 11, it was attended by tens of thousands of people, this coronation   took place on the 31st of July in 1995.

Naggalabi coronation site has a very pleasant panoramic view of the surrounding country.

Naggalabi Coronation site is the most important cultural sites to Buganda. The site has different historical houses that are important in the coronation of the Buganda kings.

The Buganda House, this is where the Prince spends nine days after being crowned, every crowned king spends nine days in the house. Nobody in the area is to touch a woman in the area of coronation not until the King completes the nine days.

The nine days are known as Enaku Ezobwerindwe (the days of tension), the Kabaka uses nine days to select his cabinet and strategize on how to run   the affairs of the Kingdom.

MBONELEDE TREE                              

The Mbonelede tree is one of the trees in the country that are believed to be the oldest, during the rain of the Kabaka Kintu where he used to sit and charge cases. The tree is large with long branches bending to the ground inform of umbrella lie shape.

The word ‘Mbonelede ‘means I have learnt a lesson. Because of the  judging session which used to take place thus giving the tree its name, for over 500 years ago.

The site is an amazing exciting area which offers traditional music; storytelling, dance and drama however these can be performed on request other include handcraft, picnic site.

Naggalabi Buddo is a 20 minute drive from Kampala along Masaa Road,drive left off Masaka Road on a sharp bend that leads to Kings College Buddo-Naggalabi Buddo is a few meters past Kings College Buddo.
