VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.

 Volcanoes national park, locally known as ‘parch National des volcanoes’ in French and ‘Pariki y’lguhugu y’ibirunga’ in Kinyarwanda .The park lies in the northwestern Rwanda, on  the border of the Virunga National park in the Democratic Republican of Congo and Mgahinga national park.

The park is commonly famous for the endangered mountain Gorillas and the golden monkeys. It’s a home to the five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountain the Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabinyo that covers in the rainforest and Bamboo.

 Volcanoes national park, was the base for the Zoologist Dian Fossey. Although the park is famous for the Gorillas and Golden monkeys it also inhabits the flora and Fauna, the vegetation varies due to the large altitude with in the park. The forest covers the park by 30%.

The forest is one of the largest forests with different species including Lobelia Wollaston, lanurensis with thicket such as marshes, meadows, swamps and small lakes.

Fauna, the park is also best known for the Mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and other animals including black-fronted duiker, spotted hyena, bushbuck, elephants in the park although their very rare. The park is also recorded with over 200 bird species and 16 endemic to the Virunga and the Ruwenzori mountains.

Gorilla trekking volcanoes national park.

Gorilla trekking is done in the Virungas national park, the park is one of the three national parks inhabiting the mountain Gorillas and make up with stunning scenic, a backdrop to the Gorilla trek.

 A thousand tourists flock into the park each year to trek through the volcanoes to such for the endangered species and have an encounter with the human cousins for one hour in the wild.

Although the time taken to trek the mountain Gorillas is unpredictable these are wild animals and they keep moving from place to place.

Golden monkey hike.

The park protects the rare endangered Golden monkeys that are found in the Virunga volcanoes foothills and one of the best areas to trek the golden monkeys is in the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

The golden moneys are habituated and already trained to be close to humans although they shy away with their little faces. Golden monkey has become popular as one of the main activities in the park.

Iby’lwacu culture trail.

The word Iby’lwacu is a culture word which means ‘Treasure or our home Heritage’. The Rwanda culture people present live with visitors with an experience of a meaning full culture.

The visit is worthy your stay either for 3hours or an overnight experience. Experience the test of traditional meals, drinks such as Banana beer or Banana juice. Such an incredible culture.

Dian fossy research camp-hiking camp.

The hike to Dian foosy camp takes for a period of 3 hours .its an amazing encounter especially for those who have watched the movie Titled ‘Gorillas in the mist’ about the life of ‘Dian Fossey’ this will be an incredible encounter in the park.

Visit the graves of the Gorillas she loved and fought for their protection, the hike has beautiful sceneries and views of wildlife including birds, moneys which are observed during the trail.

This is another popular activity after the Gorilla trekking, golden monkey and the culture encounter.

Volcanoes hike.

Volcanoes national park, offers visitors an optional activity to hike to the top of the volcanoes. Hike to mount Karisimbi which is snow capped volcano in Rwanda. It’s a heaven filled with amazing sceneries and sights to hike and view the vegetation zones.

Musanza caves

The caves of Musanze are ancients of the millions years ago. The caves gives you an experience of a natural cathedral which is amazing, theses are caves near by the volcanoes national park in Rwanda.

They have provided shelter for the refuge during the times of war and also it includes a storage of food supply.

 The caves are silent with only the sounds of drops of water hitting the groud.in the caves you have a chance to see the bats in the ceiling.

 

The twin lakes Burere-Ruhondo-Russumo falls.

Visit the beautiful sceneries of lakes, lake Burera-Ruhondo. Take a walk to view the lake or enjoy an afternoon cruise on Lake Ruhondo.

 The hike takes about three hours to Russumo falls follow the guide along the paths and trail beautiful valleys before you encounter with the twin lakes.

Buhanga scared forest hill.

The hill is a historical culture center, the Buhanga is a scared forest where the kings of Rwanda used to come and bath before their coronation.

 It’s a scary ground till now the locally are not permitted to cultivate or cut down the trees .The forest has different colors depending on the season of the year. The trails to Buhanga scared forest hill are peaceful.
